How are CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® treatments done?
At Imperial Plastic Surgery in Westport, Connecticut, your procedure will begin with a skin cleansing with alcohol. If necessary, a topical anesthetic cream may be used to numb the treatment area. Using very fine needles, Dr. Singer injects the treatment area with syringes of CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® just beneath the skin's surface to gently fill in fine lines and tiny wrinkles.
Who is a good candidate for CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections?
Women who want to reduce laugh lines, crow's feet, tiny wrinkles and to restore the border to the lips. Candidates should have realistic expectations, and be over 18 years of age. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not receive CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections.
How long do CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® treatments take?
CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® treatments generally take less than an hour in our Westport medical offices.
Do CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections hurt?
Most patients describe the feeling of the injections as a pinch. CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® contain the anesthetic lidocaine to temporarily numb the treated area reducing the amount of discomfort or pain caused by the injection.
What form of anesthesia is used?
Generally in our Westport office, a topical cream that numbs the area around the injection site is used for CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® treatments. CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® also contain lidocaine within the collagen to temporarily numb the treated area.
What is the difference between CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast®?
CosmoDerm® is used for finer wrinkles and lines, while CosmoPlast® is used for deeper lines, wrinkles and furrows.
How do I prepare for CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections?
No preparation is needed for CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections. You can come straight to our Westport offices from work or shopping. Dr. Singer may ask you to discontinue certain vitamins, minerals or over the counter medications a week prior to the procedure that may increase the risk of swelling or cause bleeding.
What are the results?
You will see immediately after the injections that CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® have gently lifted the lines and wrinkles to produce smooth, very natural, younger looking skin.
Can I go home the same day?
Yes, you can go home right after your treatment or if you feel up to it, you can go out. With CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® injections there is little to no downtime. Some patients may have swelling or redness of the treatment area, but most patients will just see smooth, younger looking skin.
